About This Game

Song Designer is a step sequencer — a grid where each column is a beat in time, and each row is a musical note. Click cells to turn notes on and off, pick an instrument, adjust the tempo, and hit Play to hear your song. The drum grid at the bottom adds rhythm. You can save your songs to the cloud and load preset songs to learn from.

How to Play

  1. Click any cell in the melody grid (top) to toggle a note on or off — you'll hear it immediately
  2. Click cells in the drum grid (bottom) to add kick, snare, hi-hat, tom, and cymbal hits
  3. Press the Play button to hear your song loop from left to right
  4. Use the Instrument buttons to switch between Piano, Violin, Flute, and Trumpet
  5. Adjust the Tempo slider to make your song faster or slower
  6. Change the Grid size (8, 16, 24, or 32 beats) for shorter or longer songs
  7. Try a Preset song to see how melodies are built, then edit it to make it your own
  8. Log in and press Save to keep your songs — Load them anytime!

Tips & Tricks

  • Start with a simple drum pattern (kick on beats 1 and 3, snare on 2 and 4) then add melody
  • Notes higher on the grid are higher pitched — try stepping up and down for a melody
  • The grid highlights every 4 columns to help you stay on the beat
  • Load a preset and change the instrument to hear how different instruments sound
  • Use the Clear button to start fresh if things get messy
